My struggles this week.

Continuing to work on creating traffic and getting more views.

In order for any business to create traffic on the “internet” or World Wide Web, it is necessary to post consistently on social media. The world has moved toward social media as we spend an average of 143 minutes per day according to statista.com

This is off their website.

  • As of 2024, the average daily social media usage of internet users worldwide amounted to 143 minutes per day, down from 151 minutes in the previous year. Currently, the country with the most time spent on social media per day is Brazil, with online users spending an average of three hours and 49 minutes on social media each day

Now I don’t know about you, but it seems like I spend more time than that on the internet. LOL.

I have chosen my primary (YouTube) and secondary (TikTok) platforms, and have been posting consistently for about 4 weeks. Some videos are faceless and some I show my face. I am trying to find the right mix of video creation.

Here is one of my videos.

Consistently creating content for my primary and secondary platforms has been my focus. I have a lot of ideas and have been trying to create  at least 2 videos a day. Do I post both every day? No I do not, but maybe I should. I mean why not?  The more you post the more you are seen the more you generate an audience. I am currently sitting at the 200 views mark for my posts. Ugh, how to get out of that rut and increase my views? That is the question.

This struggle will not get the best of me. I will continue to create content and I will continue to post on social media. I feel this is the calm before the storm.

Recently I acquired a new selfie stick so I can start and stop videos with one click. I even purchased a drone. I have always wanted one and I think I can incorporate it into my videos.

Do I feel lost in the sea of TikTok and YouTube? Yes, however I will not let this stop me. I will continue to post consistently and I know the audience who resonates with me and whom I can help will find me.

Are you struggling with creating content or acquiring followers? Have you had success with creating successful videos and acquiring followers? Please leave me a comment as I would love to hear and learn from your successes and failures.

Now on to emails. That my friends is another post.

Till next time.

Sherri

  1. I loved watching your video. I’ll try and find you on TT to follow your journey. I tried to post daily, this was a struggle. I am trying to post 3x a day but I do find this challenging. I find it challenging to dedicate the time to make content so it’s normally in my car while I’m working or picking up my daughter from school so something that fits in with my day….. I’m looking forward to seeing your journey progress

  2. Hi Sherri,
Great post about the frustrations of creating content and getting on there to do it. I haven’t done it yet, I’m worried that I won’t know what to say or I might say the wrong thing that gets me in jail with these platforms. The other thing is creating enough content and the right stuff to get out of the 200 mark like you are having trouble with now. There is so much that it is scary to even get started, but I know I will have to at some point if I want to be known. I have seen your videos, and you are doing great with them. Keep up the good work. I look forward to your next post to see how you’re killing it. Thanks!

  3. Nice video, you have a good presence.

It seems like a bit of a mystery what people actually want to watch, but I think if a person stays consistent and keeps improving it will be worth it.

  4. Oh, my goodness. I can so relate to this post. I work long hours, too, and struggle to put the necessary time into my business. Creating videos has been a struggle, but I am learning as much as possible about YouTube (primary) and how to grow my audience. I am trying to find an entertainment aspect to my videos so that people will want to click on them to watch. I’m just getting started and maneuvering through The YouTube Formula book, so patience has to be my best friend. Your videos are great and getting better and better, so keep plugging away. I enjoy watching your progress.

  5. Sherri,

Glad to see you stepping out with the video creation. I have caught a few of your videos and they are good for someone just starting out.

Keep up the progress and it will all come together.

  6. Sherri, thanks for sharing your struggles and strategies for increasing traffic on social media. It’s great to see your dedication to consistency and experimentation with different platforms like YouTube and TikTok. Keep up the hard work, and remember that every post brings you closer to your audience. Don’t get discouraged by the numbers – just keep creating and engaging with your viewers. Looking forward to hearing more about your progress in the future. Thanks, Atif

  7. Hi Sherri!
Congratulations on your decision to create video content! #win
I really liked your video that you attached. You seem so calm, cool, and collected as the saying goes around here. 😎
Don’t be discouraged by the numbers. Just think… if those 200 viewers were physically at your home or in your backyard listening to you! You may have a different mindset about it! 😉
Keep going and keep us posted! I set up YT, but am in the very beginning stages at the moment, so hoping you will share some successes and learning curves with us in future posts! Finding the time to post on the different social media platforms is tricky some days, but we do what we can do and keep growing no matter how fast we go!
    All the best!

  8. Hi Sherri,
Great post and love the video!
It looks like you’re doing awesome even though you may not have as much time as you would like to invest in your business. I’ve done some videos for TT but I haven’t been consistent with it. Soon I’ll iron out a routine that will help with this. Keep it up!

  9. Hi Sherri,
Wow, 3 hours a day on social media! I can believe it though. I love YouTube so I do watch quite a few videos a week, maybe an hour or so a day, and then Twitter with an occasional FB. I should begin to monitor how much time I am spending on SM.

I liked your TikTok video and am following you.

I started but have not been consistent, trying to work out how to talk about affiliate marketing…

I like the idea of a drone, to see the ‘big picture’ and look forward to how you will use it.

  10. Sherri, I feel like I’m in the same boat as you: I’ve struggled a bit with finding my groove on the social media scene. Although each week is getting better and better, building quality content, and keeping that content consistent has been my hardest hurdle to date. I find it does help to read blogs such as this, to read that other people have the same struggles as you. Thanks for sharing, and I look forward to seeing you continue to master social media!

  11. Hi Sherri,
Sorry for the late comment but yeah, I do hear you – but persistence will get you to where you want to be!
Don’t stop and definitely don’t lose your smile.
    All the best!

  12. Hi, Sherri!
If you’ve got the videos, please post them! After all, you’ve put in the work, reap the benefits 🙂
It seems everyone has a problem with TikTok’s 200-mark. Perhaps TikTok does that to weed out those who aren’t serious about developing a following.
Sherri, keep pushing forward. I believe in your talent and your dedication. I’m confident that you’ll break through these challenges and reach new heights.
